The Book
How one reacts to cancer psychologically depends on many factors including age, past experiences, cultural and social level, financial status, location of the cancer, mode of treatment, gender, personality and even how the news of the diagnosis is broken. All underlying reasons for the reactions and how to manage them are covered in detail in the related chapter.

The second part of the book starts with the character and behavior changes patients go through at the time of the diagnosis and during treatment, how different archetypes respond psychologically to cancer and how they should be approached.

While this is a book written for the cancer patients, their relatives and the physician, its main theme is life itself and how an unfortunate event like cancer can be used to make one’s life more meaningful and thus is intended for the general public as well. Dr. Erozenci claims that cancer -like any undesirable phenomenon- is a very good teacher to those who are willing to learn from it.
